Land Acknowledgement

The Arts Undergraduate Society of McGill University is situated on the traditional territory of the Kanien'kehà:ka (Ga-niyen-ge-HAA-ga), which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee (Hoh-DEE-noh-SHoh-nee) and Anishinabeg (Ah-nish-ih-nah'-bey) nations. We acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose presence has shaped and continues to enrich this territory, on which students and scholars from across the world now gather.

The AUS recognizes that the arts and humanities carry a particular responsibility in the work of truth, reconciliation, and decolonization. In the spirit of McGill's commitments to Indigenous recognition and reconciliation, we pledge to create spaces that center Indigenous voices, histories, and ways of knowing, and to hold ourselves accountable to ongoing learning and meaningful action.
